  3. TS-440S DISPLAY CALIBRATION
  4. I found there was some shift in the reference oscillator
  5. frequency of my TS-440S.  This can be noticed and corrected
  6. as follows:
  7. 1.  Remove the top and bottom covers from the radio.
  8. 2.  Do not disconnect the speaker cable.
  9. 3.  Connect the supplied calibration cable between RF Unit
  10.     and PLL unit, as shown in "Kenwood TS-440S Instruction
  11.     Manual" on Page 24 in Section 5-8-3.
  12. 4.  Set VFO A to 10.001.00 MHz LSB and VFO B to 9.999.00 MHz
  13.     USB.
  14. 5.  Pushing the A/B function button, you can have different
  15.     audio signals, if that 36 MHz reference oscillator is
  16.     misadjusted.
  17. 6.  Using a small flat bladed scredriver, adjust trimmer
  18.     capacitor TC1, near connector 8 of the PLL Unit (the
  19.     location shown in Instruction Manual in the same section
  20.     as above) until those audio frequencies from VFO's A and
  21.     B are equal.
  22. 7.  Disconnect the calibration cable and reassemble the
  23.     radio.  This procedure can be done by ear with good
  24.     accuracy without any measuring equipment.  WWV is too
  25.     weak here in Finland to use it as comparative signal for
  26.     the procedured described in "Instruction Manual", Section
  27.     5-8-3.
